The Long Blondes – The Unbearable Lightness of Building

Well, I rather wrote The Long Blondes off as a bit of a lightweight, frivolous flash in the pan when they first emerged. But the more I hear of their debut album and the more I watch Beth Ditto thundering pendulously about like some freakish extra from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the more grateful I am that there is a decent female-fronted indie rock group out there who wield their guitars with a bit of purpose and who are quite definitely not the fucking Gossip.
The Long Blondes – The Unbearable Lightness of Building

i’m sure i’m missing something obvious, but what’s with all the photos of buildings? is there a theme of some sort? a secret message?
Random holiday pictures from the last few years, Marcy, nothing more interesting than that. The building ones are all from Belgrade.
but doesn’t kate jackson’s voice do your head in?! she doesn’t talk like that really, and she sounds rather annoying.
damn, i was sure i was onto something.
the song was written as a fundraiser for the tate modern, i believe. it was available some months ago from their website and i missed it, so thanks, toad, for putting it back up.
Ah, I wondered where it came from. It was one of those songs you find knocking around a random folder and think ‘Oh, that’s interesting’ without really knowing where you got it from.
