Well I don't disagree that I need to get more of the artist into it, just I am personally not capable of having a Q&A style conversation. I want to chat to them and see where it goes. It's just turning it into something interesting to read afterwards that is the challenge.

I am frankly quite keen to know the color of Mr. Fisher's socks. I suppose we as the reader are just supposed to guess, is that it? I suspect taupe.

All right all right. No Q&A. Sheesh. God forbid an interview should involve that sad old trope of "asking questions" and "receiving answers." Perhaps you could do the next interview using puppets? Semaphore?

I think it's excellent and very toad, especially the idea of the chat. Cannot see you asking innane conversations about the colour of their socks.

Will post my Emma pollock interview when I have finished the second part of it; (BTW you can get microphones for your iPod for about £40, and they are very good).

Yay, someone read it!

Well I didn't have a voice recorder, which didn't help. Also, it wasn't a Q&A style interview, which I hate, it was more of a chat.

So while in future I definitely want to record the conversation and have plenty more direct quotations, I don't think I'm ever likely to want to get into a regimented format like that.

Running through a list of questions doesn't strike me as a good way to get interesting things out of people - like the Brothers Grimm thing - but definitely I agree that it needs more straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

I'm working on it. I'll get there in the end.

This was cool, and I'm definitely interested in more. Evening Mass is a revelation. I think the interview might be more effective to read if you did it in an unfiltered Q&A style so that the voice of the person being interviewed shines through a bit more, and you could add parentheticals to emphasize the moments when the tone of voice or gestures of the person being interviewed are key to conveying their point. Maybe begin with an intro to introduce the artist if people aren't that familiar and then end with editorial stuff and the beloved mp3s. Again, though, very cool.
