King Creosote – New Single

I’m afraid I’m going a bit YouTube recently, but if that’s the medium it must be then so be it. I was going to wait until I had some mp3s on my hands, but I can’t. The new single by Fence Overlord King Creosote is now out, and it’s fantastic [buy here]. It’s far, far poppier than a lot of his other stuff and as such I am really looking forward to the album – called Bombshell and out on Monday.
There’s something rather lovely about Kenny’s voice – something that kind of chokes you up a little when he hits the sad parts – and it drifts in and out of You’ve No Clue, adding a little bit of pathos to the pop at the best possible moments. If you go to his website you can preview a few of the songs in advance. Leslie sounds fucking gorgeous and hints at, as do the others, an expanded production effort. It’s a bigger, less DIY sound than before. Whether or not this is funded or fuelled by the increased popularity of all things Fence in recent years isn’t all that clear. Maybe he just felt like it this time around.
It can be pre-ordered here, either in normal or deluxe versions and I will be getting my grubby little mitts on a copy as soon as I possibly can, no fear.

KC is a new one on me-seriously amazing! Thanks for sharing.
Splendid. He’s one of my favourites. Often a bit downbeat, but there’s plenty of other stuff in there if you poke around enough.
‘Fly By the Seat of My Pants’ is heart-achingly gorgeous. In fact, ‘KC Rules OK’ is one of the best albums to come out of Caledonia in recent years.
Very much glad you think so JC, and I must say I agree. KC is currently on that ‘worst kept secret’ threshold – he’s incredibly famous for someone who isn’t famous. I love KC Rules OK and heart-aching pretty much sums up his voice. Brilliant stuff.
