Toadcast #21 – The Lurvecast

Toad Valentine

Greetings and Happy Valentine’s day my little Toadlings. Wait, what’s that? You hate Valentine’s Day? Loathe it in fact? Would dearly love to nuke fucking Hallmark and every last shitty little shop peddling their tawdry baubles and meaningless rubbish that serve no purpose other than to defile the pure concept of true love and disrespect the dignity of the un-mated?

Good. Me too. In fact, us too, for the wildly popular (grumble, sulk) Mrs. Toad is back to do the great Valentine’s anti-podcast with me. To bitch and moan, to get side-tracked, to ramble and to poke pointed sticks in the side of the great marketing behemoth that the most shallow and meaningless of public celebrations has become. If you do not like Valentine’s Day very much, then this is the place to be.

Looking good, and that’s before I even download it! BTW Mr. Toad, you mentioned the C86 tape in a post here recently. Have posted it in its entirety over at 17 Seconds.

Have a good anti-valentine’s day, Mr and Mrs. 17 Seconds

This is great! Thanks for putting this together.

Ahh .. you’ll be pleased to know that Mrs Young and I will be joining you both in the shunning of all things suger coated and heart shaped. Roll on Friday when I can buy myself heaps of cheap chocolate in the college shop.

Thanks folks. I am getting frustrated with the sound issues though. The voice bits sound dreadful. Better get that sorted before I start inviting bands on to do sessions!

This was awesome. I’m dreading tomorrow and instead of wallowing in my sorrows, I’ll just listen to this over and over and laugh my ass off.
Thanks!

Toad + Princess T.,

Heh heh. Nice cast. The Nirvana version has always been a fave of mine, but I was heavily chastised many moons ago for even owning it as it was deemed sexist by the then love interest. Silly bitch.

Courtney Love, of course, is a walking slaughterhouse rag replete with gibbets & entrails squashed lovingly into her eye sockets & chapped lips for maximum victim points.

Which lips? ;-)

Thank you guys, really enjoyed this! Brilliant compilation, some of my favorite ever tracks (plus special thanks for introducing me to The wave pictures).
This surely will make a perfect soundtrack for my anti-valentine drinks!

Yay, thanks! Any podcast featuring Pink Glove gets my vote, so I look forward to listening to the songs I both do and don’t know.

Thanks for the feedback guys (and the vulgarity, DC). We really enjoyed this one, although the sound gets on my tits. I promise to get that sorted as quickly as possible.

Vulgarity? I think you’ll find it was you who introduced the possibility of labia into the equation.

Mr Toad is a vulgar beast tis true. And me so refined as well.. whate were the chances heh?

There are bastard love heart shaped brownies with pink icing in the canteen at work today. Can someone explain why flowers/choccies and slutty lingerie isn’t enough for these bastards, they have to spoil my morning latte snack as well. Beyond The Pale.

Mmmmmm. Bella Pasta. Quite a good podmeow, Meows. Too depressed even to masturbate? Now you’re just talking crazy.

Merriam-Webster: “\ˈä-mij, ˈhä-\”

i like how mr. toad’s right knee is knocked in a bit . . . it’s so abashed somehow. :)

Mr. Toad gets all shy in the presence of his glittering princess.

Sometimes…

What a fantastic Valentine’s ‘cast. Hurrah for the Popes, the Raincoats and wifely influence!

love the chatter and song selections, love that pulp album This Is Hardcore is very good too (though it does lose it towards the end) songs like TV movie and The fear! would of gone down well on this toadcast! today on valentines day we sanded the floor together! ;)

M P.

As a podcast….the choice of music would be hard to better. Just a pity however that it all got in the way of the best male/female comedy double act since Basil & Sybil Fawlty.

‘You didn’t marry as badly as I did darling’ – she should have kicked you in the balls for that.

And I am so tempted to send a dozen rozes to Mrs T in Matthew’s name for a bit of fun.

Merci Beaucoup.

By the way,

1. I love that Wave Pictures song – I had no idea until you mentioned their album that they’re new!
2. Somewhere, perhaps in a closet, Jarvis Cocker is weeping.

Ah Christ, I just realized that I made the former comment without backtracking into prior posts of yours. Jarvis is still weeping, though.
