At Last, the Final Broken Records Videos

Toad Sessions

Well finally, finally we’ve found the time to finish these. This is the Broken Records interview from the session I recorded with them a few weeks back. It’s taken ages to get these finished, partly because we’re lacking a little for good footage, partly because getting everything into the right format has taken ages (both down to our lack of experience actually making movies, inevitably) and also because, erm, well we have lives too, so fuck you.

If any of you listened to the podcast, then you’ll be familiar with a lot of this – it’s basically chunks of the interview interspersed with some clips of the session tracks. YouTube only allow ten minutes per video these days, so it had to be broken into two bits, with two songs in each.

Part 1:

Part 2 – This one is a bit thin in terms of footage, but we’re learning and will put that right in future:

And just in case, here are the session tracks in mp3 format.

Well, I’ll say it again. Fucking brilliant.

  2. Ulla

Oh god! Absolutely fantastic! The more I listen to them the deeper I fall in love with their stuff.

  3. The Daily Growl

Finally made it onto the Hype Machine too! What did you do? Whatever it is, it may help me with my non-appearing tracks…

  4. Matthew

I changed the sample rate to 44100MHz, which I think did the trick. Check your non-appearing ones and see what that number is. Most music library software will be able to convert it for you.

  5. Cristina

The videos seem to be no longer available :(

They are still working fine for me. Try the YouTube site.

Thank you so, so much for posting these tracks! Stunningly beautiful, and very clean production as well. I played And They All Fell… on my show this morning (Sugar in Your Coffee), so you might get a few more hits from that. The rest of the blog is great as well. I like your explanation of the title.

    Cheers,
    Sarah

Oh really? That’s excellent – I am doing a show myself this term. I know it’s only four weeks, but a good taster to see if me and the audience get a along and can play nicely together.

Radio shows and music blogs are pretty similar in that they’re both a series of thoughts/monologues/utterly random ramblings triggered by songs. So if you just keep expressing yourself as eloquently as you do here, I see no reason why Fresh Air’s audience wouldn’t enjoy it…and hey, if they don’t, they’re not the presenters! Looking forward to hearing you on Tuesday.

The silly thing is, I’m sure it will be a piece of piss, really. Doesn’t stop me being equally convinced I’m going to end up exploding the entire studio tomorrow though!

A burnt offering to the Gods of Radio helps with the exploding equipment thing. I think they’re particularly partial to lamb kebab. Plus a tribal dance if you really want to get on their good side.
