It's rare to give an album the time you might as a casual listener. It was occasionally six months or even a year later that I really got into a record back before I felt the compulsion to write about it, and I sometimes worry that I don't give things anything like that much time anymore. I have given this one plenty of listens, but I do know what you mean. Well it’s one of the biggest risks of music reviewing, I guess. But I think Walk It Off is a great record. It took me a few listens to be sure. I was initially turned off by the overall sound of the production (too low, not enough quirks, distinctly more "radio ready" than the loon). But the songs are there and repeated listens are definitely rewarded. If you buy the vinyl, I think you will be hard pressed to find a better side B anywhere this year. Take it or leave it, I'm sure tapes will have no trouble walking off this typical buzz band backlash.
