Louisville can be a hard nut to crack, despite being Will Oldham territory. Lots of coffee house fare in the University area, though, so perhaps you'll stumble upon the next big thing.

nice stuff. rootsy. has some topsoil in its gums.

btw Anni + Ting Tings = soopoib. However, the TT's reliance on technology & backing tracks could be their downfall esp. when (during the one song that's made them, "That's Not My Name") the whole thing fritzs right at the bridge & the result is all panic-faced & stranded @fuck do we do now? "help us roadie" bulgey eyed pleas. Just like what happened last night. Still they got through it, despite Katie's loss of voice due to constant touring & interviewing recently, with great aplomb, even if it was a late start, short, no encore set. Crowd loved it - mixture of very old, old, young - lots of 'indie chicks' & credit card wielding cheerleaders/soccer-moms to be, nose-pierced punka types etc.

Note to self: wearing a black linen suit with grey trainers/sneakers & a limited edition The Devil & Daniel Johnston & sticking your hair up like some fucking hair gel advert & speaking with a British accent DRAWS ATTEBNTION TO YOU. I had 3 people ask me if I was "with the band" (should have said yes, just to see where the conversation went - one of the asks was a guy claiming to be from Shitfork).

Anyway, it reminded me, well Anni specifically, what purpose music has & she galvanised that rowdy bar's focus & totally had that room for the 25minutes+ she did. Good, good, bourbon-fuelled evening.

Next, The Buiklders & Butchers on 11th - I'm booked up with other things bertween today Y& then BUT if sanyone knows of a DO NOT MISS THIS while I'm here then let me know & I'll see what I can do.

Also, JC, heh heh, try this one on: Louisville, KY. I think you'll be hard pressed to find anything decent swinging through town 12th or 13th?
