Edinburgh Fucking Rocks, Bitches

Edinburgh Rocks! O Yes It Does!

When I first moved up here, just about three and a half years ago, I was moaning about the lifelessness of the Edinburgh music scene and the fact that the long lost T on the Fringe was the only time anything interesting at all actually happened.

These days that is bollocks, of course, so it was with some pride that I read this little something in the NME letters page this morning. Actually, Bart scanned it and emailed it to me because I don’t buy the NME, but you know what I mean. I don’t know who you are, Scott the Thief, but I will buy you a pint if you ever reveal your secret identity!

And now, to celebrate, some “snobby art school jazz pish”. Life is sweet!

23 witty ripostes to Edinburgh Fucking Rocks, Bitches

  1. Bart

I think I speak for everyone when I say this is the best thing that’s ever happened.

And I don’t want it to spur on another “Glasgow vs. Edinburgh” argument. There’s just no point. The important thing is that Edinburgh music is stronger than it’s been in years.

And the fact that this is finally being acknowledged is fucking brilliant.

  2. Matthew

It’s more the fact that anyone is making the comparison at all which is good. It’s rarely ever happened at all, as far as I know.

  3. Tom Spice

But i don’t like the NME….it’s read by fuckwits who listen to the Pigeon Detectives……anyhow it is top news and the sooner a rag like the NME bothers it’s arse and gets up here and highlights whats going on the better…..

  4. Matthew

They’ll definitely be up if they read that little titbit.

And fucking hell, the Pigeon Detectives? Who ever thought they weren’t shit?

  5. Tom Spice

i know a few people who like them!!!!

  6. Matthew

    What the fuck for?

  7. Tom Spice

why do i know them or why do they like the Pigeon detectives?

cos i’m nice and they have a shite tastes in music….

i don’t want to be rude, but Les Enfant Bastard……i just don’t get it!!!! i wish i had the balls to get up and do perform….cos my efforts would be nearly as good as his……i’m i wrong for thinking this?

  8. Bart

    Yes Tom.

    Yes, you are.

  9. Tom Spice

i have been wrong in the past…….and admitted it Barty boy…….but i’m not seeing the light with this one….i’ve tried!!!!

Given that there are things happening it would also be great if closer to home people like the List were focusing on this resurgence, what with two new record labels in the city and all, plus SL Records still delighting us after more than a decade…

Mazaltov to all concerned for Friday evening: the Open Mic performers, Allo Darlin (good luck for her sample clearances) and Me(u)rsault with laptop. Great to get hands on the record with the authentic SbTR-002 stamp. The Edinburgh scene thrives and, should the NME wake up and devote a whole issue to Edinburgh just to boost circulation, will thrive again. I await the SbT 09 xmas party.
