Toadcast #54 – The Spacecast

The Spacecast is yet another podcast dreamed up in the pub, this time between myself and Dylan, the official Song, by Toad photographer. And again it’s one of those podcast which could have gone on for over two hours quite easily, but we don’t do that anymore, not around here, we’re disciplined these days goddammit.
So I’ve missed off about a million other suggestions and come up with a combination of songs genuinely about space, and few that use space as some sort of metaphor and then a few which just stick a few spacey words in the title. And of course, it starts with something rather splendid… but you’ll have to listen to find out what it is. Alright, it’s not that special. Just mildly amusing.

Another Girl Another Planet does include the line;
Space travel’s in my blood
And there ain’t nothing I can do about it
Although that probably is just a metaphor.
Unlike the lyrics to all the other songs on the playlist which are really just about space exploration and nothing else whatosever.
Despite all the drug associations and phallic imagery!
Who was at the door?
My brother in law. Exciting times.
The drag thing about podcasts is their tracks won’t appear on ur last,fm!
im DLing this on, sounds moody and…in time.
this is the first toadcast i’ve listened to from start to finish…..i usually get fed up around track 3-1/2 and give up…..but this was fantastic….cheers and thank you
The king of the double-edged compliment.
I tend to listen to them on a Saturday lunchtime; after I’ve watched Saturday Kitchen in bed with a stinking hangover, then got up when the lure of bacon rolls and hot tea overwhelms the necessity to remain horizontal, and once I’ve started bimbling about the flat tidying up and doing my washing.
Hence why I associate Matthew and his taste in music with worn pants and socks.
are there any toadcasts featuring solely edinburgh bands?
No, actually. There’s a Fence one and a Scottish one, but nothing specifically Edinburgh. Nice idea though – I’ve more than enough bands by now.
