I do not like the Danananas, and I am not keen on Favours for Sailors either, honestly.

In terms of that ad, it was just one friend from uni and he was part of the six-man team from the production company (not sure about my terminology there) who actually made the thing happen, and worked very closely with the explosives guy. They didn’t design it or anything I don’t think – presumably that was some wankforallyoureworth agency in London or New York or something, I don’t know how these things work – but he was pretty heavily involved as far as I know.

I just took time out to watch the ad, not realising whcih one it is. When you say your mates from Uni made it, what did they do on it? Direct it? Film it? Choreograph it? I only ask because the compressed air cannon that’s used to propel the paint was built & designed by the best special effects/explosives expert in the UK, in conjubction with the company I work for. We loaned a few units to the production company, but we didn’t know what the ad was until it hit our screens (when was it?) a year or so ago?

Incidentally, the compressed air cannon was the reason I was in a Wells quarry (with said expert) a few week’s back & the reason I’ll be in Virginia in May.

The S-FX guy is a fucking madman, but sweet as hell, & is the ‘go to’ fellow for all things what go boom in the movie industry; he’s worked on tons of ‘em, including the new Batmans – the hospital explosion is one of his, as is the truck jack-knifing – & is currently working on a re-make of a children’s classic.

By the by, Favours For Sailors I thought the mini-LP was awful, save for 2 songs, & the DanananananananaBatman album is atrocious.
