I am aware that whales are not fish. They taste of fish. A bit. They live on fish and fishy things so it’s not surprising. Ernst the Faroeses lorry driver with four fingers on his left hand brought some back from his holidays when I was a student and insisted, quite forcefully, that I try some.

Barbarians. I could only do it if I could convince myself it was a tiny, shrunken pop star of dubious value. It might go down then. But with minimal chewing.

Anyway, fucking ecologists, what are they on about stopping hunting, it’ll be whales next.

I’ve eaten whalemeat, not very nice. It was kind of ‘whale jerky’, it was dry and chewy and fishy and not fishy all at once.
