Speaking of Canadian music, I'm sure many of you are aware that the Polaris Prize (Canadian equivalent of Mercury Prize) Shortlist has just been announced. Some fantastic albums on there

Canada seems to be producing a whole lot of great alternative music at the moment. you should probably all check out the Toronto scene as well. double sided cd entitled Friends of Bellwoods II out on Aug 25 via Out Of This Spark records. Seems to be many many bands coming through there.

Well. Woodpigeon, Woman and Chad VanGaalen is a pretty good start. Feist is also from Calgary, though I think living in Paris now.

I've also stumbled across the Consonant C, Thighs and Aaron Booth on my travels. All worth checking out.

Well, it's about time you apologized for your atrocious oversight. Actually, to be fair, I can't name all that many Calgary artists either. Woodpigeon are good, yes. You mentioned the only other two Calgary artists (Women and Chad VanGaalen) I can think of off the top of my head. (And by off the top of my head, I mean after much frantic googling). Not really enough to call you out on.
I'm enjoying this stuff (and despite the hometown links, had never heard of them).

I, for one, think Calgary has more than it's fair share of cracking bands.
