Toadcast #79 – The Wickerman

The Wickerman

This is our first attempt at a stunt podcast, live from a festival.  We go to festivals and I am trying to figure out how much work I can make for myself without taking the fun out of the festival for myself, or just generally trying too hard.

I didn’t really set up any interviews this time around – no, not even Billy Bragg – but I did manage to grab Mark from emerging Glasgow band The Seventeenth Century for a chat.  The audio is terrible, I’m afraid, but it should be just about audible.  If I’d been able to locate the keys for the Toad van at that point we’d have gone in there, just for a respite from the wind noises on the recording and the colossal amount of bleed from the main stage.

In any case, it should be entertaining enough, I hope, and with a bit of luck subsequent attempts at the same thing will be a lot better.

One question: you rocked out in your van to the Lemonheads? hehehehe, that’s cute xoxo

  2. avatar

Yes, what’s wrong with that. Making things really loud does not necessarily make them rock.

  3. avatar

    the lemondheads rock!

  4. avatar

Yes they do, Euan, yes they do. We were rocking out, just very gently!

    i love the Lemonheads…..

[...] just got back from a weekend spent in the sunshine at the Wickerman Festival, I will be spending all of Monday at a client meeting, and not returning to Edinburgh until [...]

The Lemonheads rock? Really? Hm. I liked that song about Ray or whoever, but other than that I don’t believe I’ve heard a single song by them. Isn’t Evan Dando supposed to be a bit of a prick? Hey! Now theSecond Hand Marching Band and the Seventeenth Century are great. I’ve been trying to get a copy of 17thC’s EP for weeks now, but to no avail. Apparently they’ve had paypal issues. If anyone has a spare copy and a paypal account, let’s talk…

Evan Dando boned Courtney Love. Says it all really.

i cant find my Lemonheads tape?

C&B – The Lemonheads are a very patchy band who are often really rather excellent. You might want a guide though, or you might be put off by some of the crap they’ve done.

Maxwell – I had them on tape too.

That little acoustic EP they did for their cover of Mrs. Robinson was really good. Probably about the best thing they did.

  12. avatar

It’s just that I can’t think of anything by the Lemonheads that “rocks” is all. But it’s adorable to imagine you all snuggled tight in your green van nodding your heads to it anyway xoxo

the hype spoilt The Lemonheads….it must be great to stumble across their music these days and just experience it for what it is, great indie and country tinged pop songs….awesome.

    i’d bone Courtney Love…..

Quality as always. Not sure about the stuff about fat people though.

You are not the first person to say that, Mr. Gellatly. The boy has been disciplined appropriately.

Actually, given the rate at which myself and Mrs. Toad are acquiring poundage, I doubt there will be any more fun made of fat people in our house rather soon.
