Poor old Jim seemed a little shocked, but it's happened to me once or twice as well. Probably best just to treat it as part of the entertainment and move on. I think the attitude you have is spot on - I think we all have to bear in mind that while we might find our audience somewhere, basically most of what we do or talk about at gigs or on blogs or wherever is going to be limited in how big in can get simply because it isn't an entirely a mass-market thing. This doesn't mean it won't or can't happen, but I think we need to be aware that a lot of the time it probably won't, and that shouldn't reflect on anyone's perception of success.
