Toadcast #132 – The Fuzzcast

This wasn’t particularly supposed to be all fuzzy and noisy, and in actual fact is probably isn’t, except for in bits. I have been listening to the Male Bonding album a lot this week, and then the split single from Thee Ludds and The No-Brainers dropped into my inbox, and then I became fascinated by the splendid mess that is I’llfinishyrfinish and suddenly I realised I had a podcast which was pretty much all over the place.

So I decided to embrace it, go for it and just appreciate the noise. There is some acoustic fuzz too, and a song by Grandaddy who can be fuzzy but often aren’t, but in general if you like your music to be played on a tape recorder down the back of the sofa in the next room, you should like this.

Oh, and we have the new Walkmen track and the new Cotton Jones one and all sorts. Aren’t we clever. Actually, who the fuck am I calling ‘we’, anyway?

7 witty ripostes to Toadcast #132 – The Fuzzcast

One of my favourite playlists to date. And the Walkmen reminds me about Jonathan Fire*Eater’s song ‘The Search For Cherry Red’ which makes me very happy :)

I love that new Walkmen song, different but still does the trick.

If it makes you feel any better about your Baltimore slang leanings, I seemed to have picked up the habit of saying ‘true that’ instead of ‘that’s true’. It just seems better.

I also have to express admiration for Mrs Toad’s dedication to Battlestar Galactica. It has taken me months to get to season 4. Bunking off work to watch the whole thing is the kind of dream I can only aspire to.

Also, when is some network over here going to pick up Treme?

    Treme? Whatsat? Is it spaceshipsandsplosions?

Sadly not. New Orleans post-Katrina is probably about as far as a US TV Series is going to get from spaceshipsandplosions:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treme_%28TV_series%29
But it is David Simon’s latest thing, and it does feature Lieutenant Bunk as a laid back trombone player, so it has to be good.

I know I should just torrent it, but I’ve been trying to go legit, guv.

I do wonder if Caprica will make it to another series, given it’s BSG without the spaceshipsandplosions.

(I’ve just finished listening to the Ace Busjy Striptease track and I would love to know how they recreated that hyper-bagpus-mice sound, in front of a festival crowd).

Sadly, very very sadly, they didn’t even try. Cop-outs.
