Toadcast #205 – The Baublescast
The baubles in question would be twofold:
Firstly, the Song, by Toad readers are awarding their own baubles for the year’s musical endeavours, both in terms of anointing their song and their album of the year.
And secondly, the very second I post this I am heading up into town to Kid Canaveral’s Christmas Baubles, their second of what I assume will become an annual Christmas knees-up, this time hosted at Edinburgh’s rather amazing Summerhall.
This week on Song, by Toad I will be publishing my own top twenty albums of the year, and then moving on to the Festive Fifty – basically your average predictable blogger’s December rituals. If you don’t like it I guess you’re a bit stuck until the new year I’m afraid.

“Face to the Highway” is my favorite tune from Bad As Me. One of his finest.
Yeah, there are a few crackers on there. Still, not a vintage album exactly, I think I’d have to say.
Yeah, I like Chicago,Face to the Highway and Hell Broke Luce very much. The rest? So-so.
Hell Broke Luce is bloody brilliant.
You just like the swearing.
Kudos on the Christmas rant. I grew up very Catholic and I have to admit that I always really enjoyed the rituals and caroling and whatnot. Candlelight, staying up ’til midnight, carols sung by a proper choir, and incense make a big impression on a kid. I lost my faith some time ago but I still like a lot of the carols and rituals surrounding Christmas. I don’t recall hearing much Slade at Christmas (70s glam seems more an Easter thing to me). I feel the season’s been wasted if I don’t read Dickens’ Christmas Carol to the boys, but your right about the whole commercial aspect. It just teaches kids avarice as far as I can tell.
*you’re right, not your. I fucking hate it when I do that.
