20th June BAD FUN: David Thomas Broughton, Rachael Dadd & Ichi
More BAD FUN coming your way in June. David Thomas Broughton, Rachael Dadd and Ichi are on their way up North to play the Insider Festival near Aviemore, and will be stopping in Edinburgh with us to play a show at Henry’s.
I’m not sure what to expect from David Thomas Broughton actually. When I have seen him live he has played pretty much in line with the music for which he built his reputation: all experimental looping textures, and oddly fascinating physical theatre. His last album was absolutely brilliant, but actually quite a sensible, playful pop album though, so who knows what we’ve got coming in June. Nevertheless, from the first time I saw him at the End of the Road Festival back in about 2008, purely because I had nothing else to see during that particular time-slot, I have found David to be an absolutely spellbindingly brilliant performer, so I am really looking forward to this.
Also on the bill are Rachael Dadd and Ichi who are also travelling North with DTB. They add to what can only be described as a rather eclectic bill, with Rachael’s gentle acoustic songs and Ichi’s rhythmic use of samples and loops making up a group of bands who might be an odd mix, but I think an oddly complementary one.
