Why Not Start the New Year With a Bit of Selflessness
I am taking the day to sleep off a hangover (yes, it’s five pm and I only just got out of bed), and will return with the Song, by Toad Records New Year’s podcast tomorrow, when my head hurts a little less. Hopefully a lot less, actually.
So while you are waiting for me to get my head out of my arse, and brimming with the intention of making yourself a better person in the new year, I have something to which I would appreciate you giving a little bit of attention.
Acid Ted, also known as Ctel, doesn’t comment on here all that much, to a large extent because he and I like very different kinds of music. We know each other because of JC over at the Vinyl Villain, and apart from liking his writing, I think we also have a certain mutual respect that long term music bloggers end up developing because so many people who do this give up the ghost within a year or two.
Anyhow, Ctel’s young lad died of brain cancer a couple of years back, and this year he is hosting an exclusive mix by Error Operator to help raise funds to support research into childhood brain tumours. I am not going to say anything about losing a child, because I don’t think it’s something I could even come close to either comprehending or doing justice, but Ctel did write about the experience at the time, and it makes for pretty bloody sobering reading.
So I would very much appreciate it if you would take the time to pop over to Acid Ted and make a donation, in return for which he will email you this exlusive mix. I don’t have to say things like ‘it’s for a good cause’ do I?
